mafu: code and character art

17, self-taught, in Brazil. Comms are open!

Hi, I'm mafu

I build things to find out how they work.

Usually it's a terminal tool in Rust, sometimes a game in Godot, usually because some existing tool annoyed me first.

I draw too. Mostly characters, sketchy or coloured.

I'm 17, self-taught, and I do most of this from Brazil between classes (my school is about environmental management, which has nothing to do with any of it).

Comms for art and code are open, and I need to pay my bills,,, Open one!

Escargot Native

MSN Messenger 7.5, on Linux. An unofficial native client for the Escargot network, rebuilt to feel identical to the Windows app instead of shoving it through Wine.

Rust, GPUI, wgpu, Linux, in progress

sharky

A shell in Ruby with its own lexer, parser, executor and job control. Zero third-party gems.

Ruby, Linux, v1.0.1

halofetch

A fetch tool with centered ASCII art and powerline panels. GPL-3.0: use it, change it, ship it, just don't close it.

Rust, Linux, v3.0.0

Still private: a Discord client in C++/Qt and a harness that drives coding agents. They go public when they stop embarrassing me.

Stuff I've drawn

Sketches, studies and a few finished ones.

Grey sketch sheet of a long-eared rabbit character with a choker, shorts and a studded belt, plus two bust studies
Nanachi fan sketch: a fox-eared character with a fluffy tail seen from behind, plus a small bust of the same character in a sweater
Blue lineart of a cat-eared character in a double-breasted uniform, paws raised, with "YATTA" written beside it
Digital painting of a long-eared character with curly brown hair and amber eyes glancing back over a shoulder, with smoke drifting beside the face
Line drawing of a long-eared character with curly hair sitting on a pool edge holding a drink, drawn over a photo of a backyard pool

How I work

Ugly version first, then delete half of it. I'd rather ship something that runs on the machine in front of me than design for a use case I don't have.

Bug reports are the best gift, especially from hardware I don't own.

I use coding agents and I'm not hiding it. Most of what's here was built with them in the loop: I set the direction, review the diffs and debug what breaks, they do the typing. Pretending otherwise would be weird.

Rust, C++, TypeScript, GDScript, Ruby, QML, Lua, plus Python and Shell when the problem is small.

Developer and artist

Comms are open!

4 of 5 slots open. Payment: Pix and PayPal.

Tell me what you want and what you can spend, and we'll sort out the price together.

Turnaround depends on what you ask for. School and exam prep (ENEM) keep me busy, so the quickest I go is 3 weeks to a month. Plan ahead!

Art: character sketches and coloured pieces. Code: tools, scripts and game mods (I can draw the art for them too).

It's yours to use however you want. The signature stays mine, and please don't say you made it from scratch.

Or just say hi: Discord @mafunky, or github.com/mafuzyk.

What do you need?
